Hit the slopes
Banff and Lake Louise are a utopia for skiers and snowboarders. Three easily accessible world-class ski resorts, lightweight powder, the most stunningly scenic backdrop, and a serious après scene. It’s a must-visit location for all snow lovers, no matter your experience.
You will find a variety of terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Experience some of the lightest, fluffiest snow you will ever have the joy of shredding, and smaller lift lines than most other big ski resorts.
We’re even having a special “Ski with Us” day on the slopes the day before – and the day after – the conference. For more info, check out our Vendasta Ski With Us page.
Soak it all in
You slowly lower your body into the steaming hot waters. Aaaahhh. Sinking deeper into the water and tipping your head back, you gaze up at the dark sky pin-pricked with stars. The weather forecast has promised an overnight storm and a load of fresh snow in the morning. You relax and let the water do its magical rejuvenating work. It’s going to be another big day tomorrow.
The Banff Hot Springs are still a favourite today amongst visitors and locals. It’s magical to sit in the pools in the wintertime, watching snow fall on the surrounding peaks. Sunrise and sunset at any time of the year is also a wonderful time to visit, as the mountain air cools down during these times of day. The springs are open until late in the evening year-round.
Head to the top!
The vast expanse of the Rocky Mountains stretches not above you, but around you. It is a perspective you haven’t experienced before. Your gaze levels with the towering peaks that a few minutes ago had loomed far overhead. The sweet scent of wildflowers lingers on the light breeze, warmed by the sun. A high-pitched whistle in the distance catches your attention; a local resident of the mountain, the ever-curious marmot, was warning others of your presence. Up here, immersed in the rugged peaks and alpine meadows, you feel so wonderfully alive.
Take this scenic gondola ride up the mountain and grab a snack and lunch at The Sky Bistro where you can enjoy a beautiful view of The Rockies paired with an all Canadian menu.
Take a hike!
Your breath hangs in the cool early morning air as you walk along the trail winding gently through the trees. You can already feel yourself being calmed, immersed in the deep green and stillness of the woods. Rounding the corner you catch your first glimpse of the canyon and hear the sound of the rushing creek. It is a powerful feeling to stand in the midst of this place, the steep walls of the canyon jutting high above you and the deep blue pools of the creek far below.
Enjoy one of a variety of hikes close by and take in breathtaking scenery. Here are a few we recommend: Boom Lake and Johnston Canyon are two of our favorites.
Go for a stroll
The town is alive with people, wandering along the streets, admiring the sights, and meeting for coffee. You explore the main avenue, strolling and window shopping as you sip a perfect latté, then turn down a side street lined with art galleries and speciality shops. Spotting a gleaming pair of western boots on display, you delve into the store to try them on – they’d be the ultimate memento of your trip to the Canadian Rockies.
The town of Banff has a wide variety of shops, with everything from big brand clothing and technical outerwear, to local art and must-have souvenirs. Spend time on Banff Avenue browsing the latest in men’s and women’s fashions, or make a quick stop to pick up some new gear on the way to your next adventure.
Take a walk through history
Take a walking tour of the conference venue itself, The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. It boasts a world-class spa, shops, restaurants – even a bowling alley! It’s all there wrapped in over a century of history!
The hotel offers a wealth of exciting activities for all seasons, including hiking, fishing, river rafting, horseback riding, downhill and cross-country skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, skating and a wealth of other exciting activities.
Whether you’ve been playing inside or you’ve returned from the great outdoors, immerse yourself in the unforgettable experience that is the Willow Stream Spa and relax your mind, body and soul with one treatment or a selection of services designed just for you.
